Hello! I hope you’re having a good day ^^ I was hoping to hear some headcanons on how you think Gojo, Megumi and Tsumiki function as a family unit? Gojo was literally like a teen dad to two kids — 🥀
:O yessss I get brainworms from these three, thank you for the first request!!
SLIGHT SPOILER WARNINGS FOR TOJI FUSHIGURO, Anime only’s beware. And [monkey covering eyes emoji] this is all set before Tsumiki's coma
Ok, before we get into everything I want to take a moment to think about what Tsumiki was going through this whole time.
Girl got a step dad and step brother, a baby Megumi, who she wasn’t related to by blood. Her step dad is constantly disappearing for long periods of time. His new wife, Tsumiki’s mom, is someone we don’t know much about in canon. What we do know is that both she and Toji “disappeared” a year before Gojo took them in.
Tsumiki is described to be kind, but she was most definitely wary at first. She spends a year raising her little brother, probably stressing about their finances and having to figure out how to pick up the slack as an elementary student, and suddenly her younger brother appears with a strange man (teen!) who’s offering to adopt them.
Tsumiki’s kindness is not naivety, she’s looking out for her little brother and Gojo is VERY suspicious looking.
Since Toji wasn’t the definition of stable, she probably has some issues with feeling secure in her living arrangement
Onto the actual family dynamic and HCs!! Mostly Tsumiki-centric towards the end because she deserves the world
Gojo is trying to give Megumi a childhood and treats him very sillily, while Megumi is trying in his own subtle way to look after Tsumiki, and Tsumiki is still trying to figure out who the fuck the strange young grandpa is in their house and how to look after her brother.
I imagine the two kids had a bit of food insecurity after the year alone, so Gojo had to figure out how to prove to them that they were safe and he wasn’t leaving. This was difficult, considering his schedule of missions and getting his teaching license
The schedule of that first year was a mess, with making sure that the siblings had their needs met and that Gojo wasn’t traumatizing them even more. Yaga probably gifted him parenting manuals on more than a few occasions. Gojo always made a show of destroying them a few weeks later, but not after ‘referencing’ them. He can be prideful, but his old teacher still gives advice and reminisces about his daughter through the situation
Gojo struggled, quietly, when he didn’t know what the hell he was doing as a dad. (un)luckily for him, Tsumiki and Megumi didn’t know what to do with a dad either. Their relationship leans more towards weird uncle or older brother on some days, but it works out best that way. While Gojo is their legal guardian and dad, he isn’t trying to exert control over them. This is immensely relieving to the two kids, who had gotten used to trying to be responsible. Now, they could stay independent but have someone to fall back on (once the two weren’t as wary of him, that is). Having a neglectful parent doesn't allow for you to trust adults so easily
Tsumiki worries a lot about Megumi, even though he doesn’t accept her care, and tries to do a ton of little things to show her care. Packed lunches, little notes, making sure he’s asleep before she goes to bed- these are a few of the things she did in their year alone and when Gojo moved in with them.
Megumi takes it all for granted at times, never showing her the same confessions of his care, but every crudely drawn animal and “Have a good day!” note is saved in an empty shoebox in his closet. Tsumiki doesn't know about it, but she still writes them for him up until she starts high school and has to focus on studying
One of the first things Tsumiki did once Gojo proved he not only was going to stay, but cared, was make him a basic lunch like hers and Megumi’s. There was no note, but he showed it off to Shoko at the school and bragged to Utahime (“This really proves how not only am I the strongest sorcerer but the best teacher as well! To have received a gift before you-” “Why are you calling me for this?!?”)
Definitely buys multiples of whatever the kids said they liked. Gojo wants to prove to them that they’re secure and is fumbling around with how to care for them. (“Hey Tsumiki-chan! I remember you said you liked strawberries-” “What am I going to do with ten packages?!?!”)
Gojo’s very much the type to show up to school events and be far too excited- festivals, any sports or theater performances the Fushiguros might be a part of, he’s there front and center with snacks and a glittery sign. He says it’s to embarrass them when Megumi yells at him, but the reality is that the kids are happy to spot his white hair in the crowd. Showing up isn’t something their parents often did, and Gojo himself probably had a peculiar upbringing. This is his way of giving them what they never had and being part of something he didn’t have growing up
Megumi is easy to make fun of, but Tsumiki rolls with every attempt to make her embarrassed. She finds everything sweet- Gojo could buy her the most horrendous looking sweater and she’d be happy he was thinking of her (once she became less wary, that is)
Unbothered queen. Tsumiki can be a little prankster though, after she feels like she’s not the one in charge. Bedazzling phone cases, rearranging furniture, and other harmless things she can do to make the others surprised and confused. Has definitely covered someone’s room in post-its, she deserves a little mischief as a treat.
Megumi puts on airs of hating Gojo and brushing off Tsumiki, but he cares in his own ways. Every action someone takes should be reciprocated, after all. When Gojo goes out and buys groceries, Megumi sets aside dinner for him if he doesn’t eat with them. While Tsumiki stays out late with friends, Megumi stays awake in his room until she comes back. And if he hears any of their classmates saying bad things, well….
His sister doesn’t like that he fights, but he never instigates. He’s just checking them when they run their mouths too much.
But of course, when she leans in to give him a side hug his arms stay by his side.
They receive all their money from the Tokyo School, ✨politics✨, but Tsumiki felt bad and got a job when she entered High School. It was her attempt to gain back a bit of autonomy and control of their situation, though Gojo and Megumi both tried to talk her out of it. Sometimes they swing by just to see her. Megumi, who comes by at the end of her shifts if it’s late to walk (lead) her home, and Gojo, who uses her work as an excuse to get junk food and shitty sweets.
Tsumiki sometimes takes the stuff that’s about to be thrown out home for Gojo, who looks at her as if she gave him gold.
She's his one tie back into the world Jujutsu Sorcerer's are meant to protect. A non-sorcerer, who can't even see curses, and that makes them both a bit protective. Megumi has probably left one of his spiritual dogs with her if he felt there was something in their area, and Tsumiki would be blind to the big dog laying his head on her lap.
While Gojo ruffles Megumi’s sea urchin hair, he helps tie up Tsumiki’s. He figured out how to braid it when she was in middle school and still buys cute hair clips as souvenirs.
Gojo has embarrassing photos of both of them, usually taken when they were napping or unaware, which he likes to show on a few occasions. As revenge, the two siblings got a horrible photo of him framed for his birthday.
A picture of Gojo wearing a horrific animal onesie, standing in the kitchen at night and watching the microwave, with his body half turned towards whoever was taking the picture. Body blurred and eyes glowing, the photo is in a frame that has stickers and rhinestones all over it. It’s framed in their entrance hall, with a  picture of Tsumiki asleep in a face mask and another shot of Megumi getting sprayed with a hose by Gojo.
They all cringe at their shots but don’t move them.
Every parent-teacher meeting that they’ve had has gone horribly. At first, Tsumiki would try and attend for Megumi. If a teacher refused to allow her then they had to deal with Gojo, who would either act like a 12 year old if the teacher was an ass or play nice if he deemed them nice. In the end, the schools decided Tsumiki was the only normal one of their unit.
Gojo, at her meetings, would feel a bit odd. After all, she wouldn't ever be part of their world of curses and sorcery. Still, he encouraged her studies and was very supportive in her decision to pursue social sciences in university
Chores are divided by who can do what. Gojo's infrequent schedule means he can't be relied on to cook every meal, Tsumiki's studies and work had her missing many dinners, and Megumi would often be doing his own thing. Gojo and Tsumiki both agreed to do weekly meals together, as well as a chaotic shared breakfast every morning since they departed at the same times. Gojo would cook breakfast, usually something traditional that he grew up with, while Tsumiki made lunches. Megumi would do all the dishes, without prompting.
Overall, they care about each other with varying degrees of comfort in showing it. Gojo tries to supply every material thing they need, Megumi tries to protect them when he can, and Tsumiki just wants them to both know someone care.
Gojo's own upbringing meant he had to learn about himself before learning to take care of the two siblings. Tsumiki had issues with fully trusting adults to care about her after her adolescence, which spawned an interest for psychology/sociology and a need to amek sure her brother could always trust her. She and Gojo see eachother more on equal footing, while Megumi is squarely in 'little sibling' territory.
Megumi, with his dad's semi-frequent flings and disappearing acts, is more comfortable with Gojo's teasing than Tsumiki's kindness. He can bark and bite but doesn't quite know how to deal with her sincerity.
In case you couldn't tell, I have feelings about Tsumiki's character. Sorry for the long post! If you want more specifically Gojo Teen Dad HCs I can do those :)

The Account of Cercer, called Aswaepende
Another contribution from the Hirnedhrim! Cercer is barely mentioned in earlier accounts; she's one of the people Zuste speaks to relatively early on in the escape planning and she knows surprisingly many of the young goblin-men (and -women) bred in Isengard. Wonder how that happened?
Content warnings: Orc-husbandry of Isengard. (That is, nothing at all graphic, but talks about rape, forced marriage, forced pregnancy.)
The account of Cercer, called Aswaepende
Thirteen years before the fall of the Iron Ring, Tsiru's wife Zia died trying to birth their seventh child. We had only been there not quite nine years. Riborasta pulled the child out feet first with the birthing tongs rather than cut into Zia, but she was already bleeding and we could not stop it.
It was the first time I saw a woman die of birthing above the ground. I asked questions and learned it is not uncommon in Men even living untroubled in their own lands!
Our brothers' wives all agreed to give them children, but in return our brothers promised to protect them. That was the deal. If one of my brothers had children already and his wife died birthing more, then the deal was broken and on our end. And a wife is not part of all-the-world-against-us, because we made her one of us, and we should not break promises made to each other.
I said as much to my brothers Tyras and Ebros. (Tyras is one year older than me and Ebros five years younger. The others born close to us died long years ago.) Tyras said he had found more comfort in his home and children since he stopped lying with his wife he would follow my advice. Ebros agreed he did not need more children but in no way did that mean he would cease coupling with his wife, for it was the only thing that made it bearable to serve as a stud below ground but would do nothing about it.
So I went to Ebros's wife Oswyn, and Tyras's wife Hild while I was at it, and I offered them bleedmint I picked in the meadows around the Iron Ring. I told them tisane of bleedmint would stop a child from taking root or growing though I think Hild may have known it. I told them they had birthed children enough to meet their bargains and need not risk their lives birthing more. I said I could bring more, in spring and summer at least, and enough to dry for the winter, though it did lose its virtue over time, and it did not always work regardless.
They took the bleedmint and asked what they owed me. Hild particularly would not accept that this was only the proper way to treat my law-sisters. So I told them to persuade their children that I was their favorite aunt.
Two summers later I brought bleedmint to Hild and she stopped me before I left. She confessed that since Tyras had indeed not coupled with her for several years, she had no need of bleedmint, and had been giving it instead to Anarti's wife Balthild, who had birthed four children. I found out later that she was actually giving it to Sarmit's wife Milda, who had birthed only one child but with great difficulty and Hild and the others felt she would certainly be in danger because of her hips. another of my law-sisters. But now Diegis's wife Etta another law-sister had birthed three children and was weary and would I please collect some more. More bleedmint, not children. I agreed.
I thought about digging up some bleedmint and planting it inside the Iron Ring where Hild could get at it herself, but we all know what bleedmint is for, and I was not actually sure the clear fairness of this would be as self-evident to all my sisters as it was to me.
However I did plant some along the path to the place where we made Wizard's Oil and Wizard's Clay. I was starting to need quite a lot of it.
Hild dealt with distributing the bleedmint among some of our law-sisters, her friends. But they were not all friends; the Dunlendings and the Strawheads were not friends, and the Strawheads were split between those married right after capture and those who were taken underground first and then chosen. The ones who had not been underground thought those who had been were strange and more broken and if they were not mad they should be, because they had all been made to couple with orcs and some had birthed monstrous children. The ones who had been underground thought the ones who had not been did not appreciate how lucky they were, and resented being looked at as strange and more broken and should-be-mad.
It was not fair that the Dunlendings and the fresh Strawheads should not have this opportunity not to die birthing. It took some time to decide who to speak to among them, but I did. I started switching tasks with people to be sent to the oil-sheds more. Louzis complained that I smelled constantly of mint. I said it was to hide the smell of underground.
I do not know how As our brothers' children grew up, many of them turned to the company of the goblin-men of the Iron Ring. I can only guess that some discussion between them is why Belene, born underground about the time we arrived, knew to come to me when she had been fooling around with some of her cohort and was likely with child and did not want it. I showed her the bleedmint and explained that depending on how late it was bleedmint might not work or be safe. I did have some ergots, but I was not at all sure that was any safer than actually birthing the child. Belene did not care and took them anyway.
Others followed. They were not my sisters or law-sisters, so I asked for favors in return. And most of of the goblin-women of the Iron Ring were permitted to leave the Iron Ring as they wished, and could have gathered bleedmint themselves or for each other. But many kept coming to me anyway! Solsege tells me it is because they wanted reassurance from someone older and wiser who understood the situation. Pegrina found me being thought old and wise the funniest thing she'd ever heard.
At any rate I understand that when my Strawhead law-sisters wished to speak of me they called me Aswaepende, sweeper, because I helped clean up little messes and they did not wish to mention my name, which was thoughtful of them. I do not think I would have been in danger as the Iron Wizard was not expecting or interested in any of the births that didn't happen, but some of my brothers and maybe also sisters would have been very unhappy with me.
Possibly some people may be very unhappy with me now. I am hoping all of them died, or at least are able to realize what I did was for the best.

The Magister's Report
Tumblr media
"Silvermoon Ranger says: "Straight and true, that's the way," repeats the dutiful Silvermoon ranger in Farstriders' Square.
Ruthar offers some advice to the young recruits. "Just a little firmer in the hand is all, and a touch higher. Once again."
“Or, set that silly stringed stick aside and study magic,” Bey'ron adds, smirking.
Ruthar looks over his spectacles to Bey'ron. "Ah, Lord Everblaze. Arcane shot comes a little later on, I'm afraid." He gives the Farstrider a pat on the shoulder. "Excuse me," he offers softly, shifting away from the training ground.
Bey'ron follows wordlessly, stepping aside and out of earshot of the fledgling Farstriders.
Ruthar nods respectfully in greeting. "I didn't expect to see you quite this soon, Magister. I hope all is moving along well?"
“Mm, quite well. Magistrix Starfrost finished her analysis of the ruby communicator.” Bey'ron holds out his hand, palm up. It's...empty. But not for long, as a flash of emerald flame briefly engulfs his hand, then vanishes leaving a miraculously un-singed scroll.
Ruthar watches as the scroll appears in the Magister's hand. "Lady Starfrost continues to amaze with her talents and expedience. Do send her my most sincere thanks for what must have been a laborious task." He looks down to the scroll. "Is this the full account or a summary of the findings?"
Bey'ron lifts and lowers the scroll, as if weighing it. It's... quite a roll of parchment. "I'm told it encapsulates everything. From the moment of desertion, to my encounter with her in Valdrakken."
Ruthar raises his hand. "May I?"
“I insist. I grow weary of holding it.”
Ruthar smirks at that, taking hold of the report. It is indeed a hefty heap of parchment. He gently removes the seal and takes a look at the first page to find the smallest of writing squeezed onto the pages. "Well, this will take some time to digest. I don't suppose the Magistrix offered you a summary before handing it over?"
“From what she told me... it's a rather boring read. Our wayward Farstrider friend spent most of her days wandering the wilderness. Restocking supplies every now and then, but nothing even remotely hinting at Alliance sympathies or connections.” Bey'ron shrugs, idly inspecting his gloves. "Four years of camping under the stars and drinking water from streams. Can you imagine such mind-numbing monotony?"
Ruthar doesn't seem as elated as one may expect at the news, his mind moving quickly. "It is hard to imagine, to be honest. A Farstrider of such skill and dedication shifting to a semi-nomadic lifestyle for an extended period." He holds the parchment up. "This report certainly holds the truth, in any case."
“Indeed. The mundane, boring truth. With how contrite and self-depreciative she was, I expected -something- compromising, if I'm being honest. I suppose her guilt really does stem from a betrayal of her sense of duty.” Bey'ron sighs, as if disappointed. "But not any -actual- betrayal."
Ruthar looks down to the scroll. "If one admits to defecting, you would think there would be a strong reason for it."
“Stronger than turning her back on her people? Her friends? Her mentor?”
Ruthar nods. "Indeed. I would expect there to be something truly weighty to cause such an act." He sighs. "Alas, here we are. She will still have to testify, of course. If, for some reason, these contents don't match her statements, that could be an entirely different situation."
Bey'ron raises his brow. "You think she may be lying about having kept the ruby on her person at all times?"
“I merely posit that there are many possibilities and factors to take into account. If she agrees to a hearing and her testimony matches the contents of the report quite effectively, then I think this matter could be resolved quite quickly.”
Bey'ron nods slowly. "Mm. So be it. I'll bring her to you this week, and we'll put this matter to rest once and for all."
“Is she currently in residence at your manor? I will have the Farstriders draft up a notice that will need to be sent her way informing her of next steps.”
“My manor? Certainly not. She's rather free-range, going where she pleases. I have my man Kynlea Sunstriker escorting her, keeping me apprised of her movements and locations. Last word I received this morning, she was in the Twilight Highlands.”
Ruthar nods. "Of course, though should I assume you have a way to get a missive into the hands of your agent Sunstriker?"
Bey'ron smirks. "Naturally."
Ruthar nods. "Very good, I'll have the missive sent your way for proper forwarding. Do you have the gem with you as well?"
“Mm, I do. Would you like to keep possession of it as well?”
“It could be considered evidence, so best to keep it paired with the report if possible.”
Bey'ron nods once. He snaps his fingers-- and a rift of darkness tears open beside him. Thannos materializes from the darkness, holding a small decorative box. The creature holds it out for Ruthar to take.
Ruthar looks to the formerly-bartending minion with a small hint of disappointment before reaching down to take the box. He lifts the lid to ensure that there is indeed the necklace in question within.
Bey'ron snaps again. Thannos emits a hollow echoing groan... before vanishing from sight! The box does, indeed, hold the ruby necklace in question.
Ruthar gently closes the lid. He opens to thank the creature but realizes it is now gone. "Excellent, it looks like everything is in order. Your work has been and continues to be of great service, Magister."
“Mm, I'm well aware. Magistrix Starfrost helped as well, of course. I'll pass along your appreciation.”
Ruthar nods. "Please do. I would imagine that you would both be encouraged to participate in the proceedings considering your involvement, should you be willing."
“I expected nothing less. In truth... I worry Miss Li-Mei will flounder and panic on her own before a Farstrider court. Given how generous and invested I am... I'm of a mind to serve as her Counsel in this matter.” Bey'ron sighs. "She's very obviously wracked with guilt. I've seen even the most stoic of Spellbreakers crumble and break down in testimonials. It's for the best, I think you'll agree. I imagine you'd wish to yourself, but... given your history with Miss Li-Mei and position among the Farstriders, such would appear... improper, hmm?”
Ruthar raises an eyebrow at that. "She would of course be welcome to include someone to serve on her behalf, though I'm not sure the Farstriders will see the one who reported her return and assigned her protection as impartial. Not to mention that she is in your service, now.”
Bey'ron smirks. "You're only pointing out further reasons it would be -prudent- for me to serve as her Counsel. She came to me, seeking guidance. She works under my employ. Counsel isn't meant to be impartial, Ranger Captain. That's the duty of those passing judgment.” Bey'ron chuckles, and shakes his head. "I'd be poor Counsel indeed, if I didn't argue from the grounds of her presumed innocence, don't you think?"
Ruthar taps his lips at that. "Perhaps," he offers. "I will pass such an offer along with the evidence. Should Li-Mei reply to the missive with a request for you to serve as her representative, then I am sure it will be fairly considered. Certainly your status in Silvermoon speaks volumes as well.”
“Of course. The decision is, ultimately, hers. Should she wish to represent herself in this matter, I'll merely attend.”
Ruthar nods. "We shall see how she replies to the proceedings. If her return to the ranks is truly what she desires, than I would expect nothing less than her full cooperation."
“Certainly so. I'll be sure to pass the summons along to her, through Sunstriker.”
Ruthar nods. "Excellent. I will get all this submitted presently. Is there anything else I can do for you this evening, Magister?"
Bey'ron shakes his head. "Nothing at present, no. But should something arise requiring your expertise or guidance, I'll not hesitate in asking." he smirks.
Ruthar removes his glasses. "Within reason, of course," he says, returning the smirk.
“Mm, of course. For now, harmonious cooperation between us is its own reward, don't you agree? Exemplary, even. If only it were so that the Magistry and Farstriders all worked together so well.”
“I do, and I do mean that sincerely. It is indeed great what can be achieved beyond the unfortunatley common pettiness.”
“All for the good of Quel'Thalas. Perhaps in time, such cohesion will be the rule, rather than the rare exception.” Bey'ron waves his hand, chuckling. "Ah, but we can wax philosophical another time. We both have much to do, yes?"
Ruthar nods. "We've come a long way, but there is always more work to be done. I appreciate your work setting such a strong example. I greatly look forward to continuing in kind. But yes, you are correct." He holds the report aloft with the box atop. "Much to do, indeed."
“I'll leave you to it, Farstrider Captain. Best wishes in reviewing that... verbose report.” Bey'ron stifles a chuckle. Barely. "Until we meet again, Sunwell guide."
Ruthar chuckles at that. "I've read worse. Sunwell guide, Magister. Do be on the lookout for the courier within the next few days."
Bey'ron bows his head politely, before turning to depart.

2, 14, 17 for Caesonius, Minah and Narayani?
ty!! // oc asks childhood edition
2. Where did your muse grow up? What was their home like? Did they like where they grew up?
CAESONIUS — grew up in Vyrantium, first in his family's meager lodgings and then in the house of Magister Aneleus when his older brother sold him into slavery to pay off a gambling debt. neither was great—the first was in poor condition and he had to deal with his brother's frequent gambling and unsavory companions; the second was his master's house, where he was afforded a cell of a room and endless obligations. but he also received an education and training and power, so between the two... well, he got what he wanted eventually MINAH — minah grew up in the Free Marches. she had a pleasant home life; she got along with her family and had her own room and she could go down to the river when she wanted to. she was happy there. NARAYANI — rani grew up on the move with her clan, which was a small but tight-knit community, and one she liked. she had, if not an interesting childhood, at least a happy one—which is honestly maybe better
14. Who was a mentor or a hero to your muse as a kid? Why did your muse look up to them and what did your muse learn from them? How is that relationship now?
CAESONIUS — absolutely not a hero, but Magister Aneleus was certainly a mentor. he taught caes magic, and cruelty, and ambition, and the machinations of power. in return, caes helped drive his house to ruin and killed his children. so it goes. MINAH — minah really looked up to her dad. he had a strong work ethic and cared about the community and knew loads (from her young and un-worldly perspective, anyway), and she'd spend hours traipsing after him, soaking up everything he had to offer. his death really messed her up. NARAYANI — of all the clan elders, Iravel was the one she looked up to most—something about the old woman's personality, her patience, and her stubborn pride spoke to little rani. they had a fight shortly after rani became a hunter, a mission she'd accepted that Iravel disagreed with. rani went anyway, and when she got back afterwards (flushed with pride and success, hands bloodied for the first but not the last time), Iravel had passed. she regrets not resolving that argument before Iravel's death, though she doesn't regret accepting the hunt. this was the first snapping threat between her and the clan—though she didn't realize it til years later.
17. How is your muse with kids now? Do they want kids of their own? What lessons from their childhood would they pass on to the next generation?
CAESONIUS — simply wouldn't know what to do with a child if he saw one. he's been around kids, vaguely—some of the other slaves had children; some of the other slaves were children—but he outgrew that long ago and has no interest in dealing with kids. the only lessons he has to pass on are sharp and cruel, and even he knows better than inflicting them upon a child. MINAH — there were always kids coming to see the Orchestra's shows, so she's got some familiarity with entertaining and humoring children. she also (once upon a time) really wanted kids of her own. these days, she's a little iffy about them (she doesn't want any herself), but she's still pretty good with 'em. she's not sure she has any lessons of her own worth passing on—maybe remembering to tip entertainers? (I guess her advice to loras—to be his own man, that he doesn't have to be what his father was—is its own sort of lesson.) NARAYANI — rani's spent a bit of time around kids and has taught a lesson or two to apprentice hunters—it's impossible to avoid children in the clan—but she's not interested in having children and is just a little awkward around them. her own childhood feels ages ago, and it's a little uncomfortable to be reminded of the hollow feeling it carries in her memories

The Illegal Migration Bill is facing challenges in its final stages in Parliament.
The bill is part of the government's plan to tackle small boat crossings after record numbers arrived in the UK this way in 2022.
What is the government's plan to tackle migrants?
Under the Illegal Migration Bill, published in March 2023:
the home secretary has a duty to detain and remove those arriving in the UK illegally either to Rwanda, or another "safe" third country
migrants will not be granted bail or able to seek judicial review for the first 28 days of detention
under-18s, those medically unfit to fly or at risk of serious harm in the country to which they are being removed, will be able to delay departure
the number of refugees the UK settles through "safe and legal routes" is capped
Under a new agreement with France, the UK will pay £500m over three years to fund more patrol officers and a new detention centre.
The government also said its returns agreement with Albania had reduced small boat arrivals from the country.

What changes have been made to the Illegal Migration Bill in parliament?
Pressure from peers in the House of Lords led to changes being made to the bill, known as "amendments".
One required the government to produce a report looking at the existing so-called "safe and legal" routes to the UK, and the possibility of expanding them.
Another was to add protections in the bill for people claiming to be victims of modern slavery.
But when the bill returned to the House of Commons - and despite criticism from some senior Conservative MPs - nearly all of the changes suggested by the Lords were overturned.
At a later stage of voting, these provisions were reinstated by the Lords.
The bill is currently in the "ping-pong" stage of Parliament, where it passes between MPs and Lords who consider the changes proposed by the opposing house.
The government hopes to pass the bill before Parliament breaks up for the summer recess period.

What are the "safe and legal" routes to claim asylum in the UK?
The Home Office insists there are a number of "safe and legal" routes to the UK.
However, some are restricted to people from specific countries such as Afghanistan and Ukraine, while other routes only accept limited numbers. Figures shown are for the year to March 2023:
UK Resettlement Scheme - prioritises those from regions in conflict (1,056 grants issued)
Community Sponsorship Scheme - for local community groups to provide accommodation and support for refugees (309 grants)
Refugee Family Reunion - for partners and children under 18 of those already granted protection in the UK (6,029 visas)
Mandate Resettlement Scheme - to resettle refugees who have a close family member in the UK who can offer a home. (Six resettled; about 430 refugees accepted since 2004)
In April 2023, Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick was asked in Parliament which safe and legal routes were available to a young person wanting to flee the conflict in Sudan.
He said, "the best advice would be for individuals to present to the UNHCR [UN Refugee Agency]. We already operate safe and legal routes with them."
But the body insists "there is no mechanism through which refugees can approach UNHCR with the intention of seeking asylum in the UK."
What does international law say about refugees?
Critics of the government's asylum proposals, such as the Refugee Council, say they risk breaking international law.
The main principle of the 1951 Refugee Convention states that refugees should not be returned to countries where they faced threats to life or freedom.
The government insists its plan to send migrants to Rwanda for their asylum cases to be heard complies with international law.
But the Court of Appeal ruled in June 2023 that sending asylum seekers to Rwanda was unlawful and risks breaching Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
The government will take the case to the Supreme Court.
What has the government said about migrant accommodation?
In March 2023, it said that three ex-military sites in Essex, Lincolnshire and East Sussex would house several thousand migrants.
In April 2023, it announced a barge called the Bibby Stockholm based in Dorset would host up to 500 adult male asylum seekers.
Another accommodation site called Catterick Garrison in Yorkshire is also due to open soon.
Local councils in Lincolnshire and Essex both lost legal challenges to prevent bases being used to house asylum seekers.
On 12 July 2023, the first asylum seekers arrived at the Essex site. The Home Office said 46 asylum seekers had been placed there, with more due to arrive over the summer and autumn months.
The government hopes the new measures will reduce the amount of money it spends on accommodation. There are more than 51,000 asylum seekers currently living in hotels across the UK.
A Home Office official told a committee of MPs that the department was paying to keep nearly 5,000 hotel beds empty to prevent overcrowding at detention centres.

Cabinet Man - Ch. 5
The news reporters reported that I died [AO3] Rating: T WC: 2.2K | 17K Tags: Alternate Universe - Victorian, Slow Burn Fandom: Spider-Man (Movies - Raimi) Ship: Otto Octavius/Rosalie Octavius Disc: Ce, qu'on appelle une raison de vivre est en même temps une excellente raison de mourir. | What is called a reason for living is also an excellent reason for dying Otto Octavius, soon to be a doctor, knew his reputation preceded him in more ways than one. He’d all but written off marriage from a young age, until he saw a woman who’s flick of a hair, a rustle of skirts, took his attention firmly from the science he had so long been taken over his mind.  [<<] | [>>]
Of all the things that Otto found himself comforted by, the drone of the city was one of them. Through his entire life, the silence of hills, the dirt that would fall onto his clothes, never seemed to draw him any further from the streets and chaos that rang through the brick buildings.
Otto rarely would take advice from those who were not his doctor, but at the urging of Curtis, he really couldn’t find a reason to deny the request. Going out to the country, allowing the reprieve for his mind, was just tantalizing enough for him to accept the advice. The stifling heat was getting to him in the midst of August, ideas and solutions to his problems compressed in oppressive humidity. Plus, Curt had paid for half of the trip, and Otto never turned his nose up at gifts. Doctor’s orders were orders, even if they weren’t always your personal psychian.
Otto walked up the well taken care of, stone steps, watching his footing for an uneven surface. The door at the top of the stairs was slightly ajar, the heat inside the building allowed it’s chance to exit the building. The man at the desk was clearly falling prey, eyelids half closed, lips parted to let soft puffs of air escape.
It wasn’t until he saw Otto that he straightened up again, lips now the pleasant smile all service workers would affect when faced with a customer.
“Good afternoon, sir. May I offer you assistance?”
“Doctor Octavius. I should have a room reserved for a week.”
“Very good, sir.” The man took the moments to look through his reservation book, before finding Otto. The process went considerably smoother than Otto had been fearing; his key was offered, and he was instructed to room 8, just around the corner. His luggage was deposited in his room before Otto could turn down any help. With no other reason occupying his thoughts, Otto walked around the grounds, allowing a mental map to build in his head.
The grounds were well contained, well manicured, perfect for a vacation unconcerned with the mundanity of city life. Shrubs were being attended to as he walked by, sharp shears softly snapping in the evening. The workers nodded their heads at him, before continuing their work. Over a crest of a hill, he fancied his eyes strong enough to see the smoke from the nearby village. The grounds sprawled larger than Otto had expected, much to Otto’s shock. To his knowledge, hydropathy was not a practice engaged in outdoors, but perhaps that was to account for those who designated the resort as a secret meeting ground. Otto couldn’t judge those who did, even he being taken in by the greenery. The spots of shade invited him for a nap, the rolling hills begged for a walk and contemplation.
But most surprising, Otto didn’t encounter another person after those workers for about an hour and a half. He’d almost point to the weather, but even here, it wasn’t as stifling and oppressive as it would have been at home.
A handsome couple walked up the path towards him, her hand lightly on the man’s elbow, blushes faint on their cheeks. The sudden knowledge that he had stumbled onto a private conversation washed over Otto, and he took the moment to turn off the path, acting if he only had been looking closer at a rosebush, buds slowly exploding in a mess of petals.
But that movement enabled him to finish the map in his head, seeing the dirt of the drive just down the house, the house just to the side. The carriage that had only just stopped caught Otto’s attention, though he was not entirely sure why. It wasn’t until he took a half step into the rose bush that the door was opened, and a familiar parasol was out of the door first, covering the deep brown hair secured under a hat.
How could Otto not recognize the woman who had been stuck in his mind for months?
Yet the realization didn’t stop Otto from disappearing back into his rented room, the nerves building in his chest almost too much for the moment. Coming here had been a bid to offer his mind a short break from the love-struck thoughts that he’d been inundated with for so very long.
His notes were spread on the desk provided, and he couldn’t find it in him to relinquish the work he was supposed to shelve.
Tumblr media
The wood was warm in Otto’s hands. He pushed away from the dock, muttering softly to himself. He had little idea of what he properly was doing. The basics were well in his head, knowing only enough to glide through the water, but not enough to make it look, or feel, easy. He only rationalized it with his family lineage; too many of his relatives had found their home on the sea. What kind of Octavius would he be if he didn’t find his own way with a simple rowboat?
The oars once more in Otto’s hands, and he started to pull the wood through the water, feeling the resistance of the liquid. A few yards from the dock, and he heard his name yelled in slight surprise.
“Otto!” his head snapped up, only to see the woman he had watched arrive yesterday flounce up to him. Her beauty could not be understated, the deep green taffeta dress fitted just right to her, accented against the light greens of nature. Her steps were quick, stopping with a swing of her skirts at the end of the dock. The shade from her parasol wasn’t enough to mute her expressions, however.
“Rosaline! I’m sorry, I’ve already cast off. I can’t turn back.”
“Are you staying here long?” Her voice was strong as it called over the water to him, her eyes only caught on him. He could hear the tones of disappointment, her chance well missed this time.
“Yes! Can I find you tonight?”
“Join us for dinner!” The offer was hurried, something to ensure a meeting as he drifted further into the lake.
“I can’t.”
“Then tomorrow. Promise me you’ll find me in the maze.” The request nearly made Otto shoot to his feet, almost made him lose his balance and capsize the rowboat. His sudden surge forward only made the boat rock before he understood the danger, his eyes still locked her.
“Yes! I’ll find you!” he was quick to make the promise, and even at that distance, he was able to see her face light up in excitement, her grin nearly infectious.
“Good!’ It was the last thing he heard from her before the sound became too faint, and Otto allowed himself to memorize each of her expressions. The gust of wind playing with the hem of her skirt, curls shaken loose from its style and caressing the skin of her neck, Rosaline only could be compared to Aphrodite in his constant, lovesick state. Her visage was entirely memorized in seconds, imprinted into his mind without a thought more.
He didn’t touch the oars until her image had settled in his mind, and he found himself successful in keeping the boat from tipping, gliding smoothly into the spot he had taken it from shortly before. It wasn’t until he endeavored to try and stand that he found himself suddenly assaulted by the cold water of the lake, his mouth only just managing to close in time. He wasn’t graceful as he thrashed his way back to the dock, covered in algae and a bit of mud. His body back on the dock at long last, Otto could finally hear the peels of laughter falling from the porch, ones that he was vastly familiar with at that point. His head whipped around to see the source, and his mortification was full. The last person he had wanted to see him in such a state was sitting on the poarch with a book and her father next to her. He had missed the display, but it didn’t stop Rosie from trying to stifle it with a hand over her lips.
His gaze moved from Rosie to a maid, already with her arms full of towels for Otto.
“Here we are, sir. The lady up there saw your spill and wished you to be taken care of.”
“Thank you, miss.” Otto’s smile was kind, as he looked at her, before shaking his head at Rosie. The crimson was still bright on his cheeks, and Otto took the chance to hide it with one of the offered towels, scrubbing off the bits of green plant he could feel covering his skin. “Do you provide a laundering service, miss?”
“Yes, sir. I would guess you’d like this clothing to be laundered today?” “If it could be. I don’t want to find out what stains I can create yet.” He smiled at her, mind once again on the promise of the next days.
Tumblr media
“Rosie?”
“Otto?” Her voice carried to him from the foliage, clearly on the other side of the natural wall.
“I will admit, I’m quite confused how a labyrinth can be used to medicate one’s humors.” Yet there was a humor in his voice even as he said it. His hand moved to the well manicured edge of the bush, the pricks of sharp sticks poking into the meat of his hand. The slight pain forced Otto to pay attention to his surroundings more fully. This meeting was secret, for certain, but perhaps not entirely undue. Though short as their courtship has been thus far, Rosie certainly seemed a woman willing to throw social rules to the side if it came to her benefit.
“I would assume it’s to keep the mind sharp, wouldn’t it?” His jovial state was reflected in her voice, a laugh waiting to spill from her lips.
In a shift of his weight between his feet, Otto nearly swore that he had caught the glint of Rosie’s eyes through the branches, for just a moment.
“Is it? I find logic puzzles to serve me better.”
“Perhaps, but if you are not sharp enough to find your way out of the labyrinth, are you safe enough to be let out?” Her question quickly evoked the story Otto was well familiar with; the offspring of the Cretan Bull and Pasiphaë.
“I believe that was an attempt to cage a monstrosity, not a human.”
“Wasn’t it human in its own way?”
“Only half so.” “Will you argue that the creature is not human on virtue of the desire to be human? That due to its desire to be human despite surface level mutations, it is not human?” Her questions took Otto aback for a few moments, realizing the truth of her words. She didn’t stop in his silence, however. “Do you think he would have needed those stone walls, the twists and turns, if he had been shown a mother’s love? If only his father had offered his palm instead of his fist, that he would have done those actions that were expected of him?” The rebuke, suddenly so very far from the original topic, slapped Otto across the face. The point was clear; what did he consider ‘no longer human’? A percentage? An action? Was the minotaur just a simple product of his circumstances?
“No. I don’t think that it would have taken so freely if it had not been shown how; if it had been shown love deserved to us all in the light of the sun.” Otto paused, looking once more at the twigs and the leaves in front of his face, thinking through the thoughts in his head. Rosie stayed silent, clearly waiting for words to grant their pattern on him. “Suppose he had. If this creature that was brought into this world without the volition of his mother, of his father, suppose he had been offered the love and joy of his siblings, the bosom of his mother, the palm of his father. Would the world have allowed such a creature to move freely among us? Or would his prison have only expanded from the stone walls and harsh turns, to the moat and the edge of the city. Would that have been enough for this creature who inherently stands above all?” It was Rosie’s turn to fall silent, waiting for his words to parse themselves together, to allow the moments needed for her decision.
“Yes. He could have found happiness. Perhaps the city walls would have confined him, but I believe even a few friends could have found their way to his aide.”
“And what of the people who fear him?”
“Would his father’s zeal not be enough to save his hide?”
“Only as long as his heart would beat. Would his words and actions stop Theseus?”
“He wouldn’t have heard of the horrors in the subterranean labyrinth. There would have been no incentive for his troubles in Crete.” At the location, Otto felt the branches press into his hand from the other side of the wall. The soft sound of a hand over branches then reached his ear, scratching sharp points against dry skin. “How far can you walk to your left, Otto?”
“My left? I have ten yards. Twenty on the other side.”
“Lovely. I may not be able to look into your eyes here, but would you walk with me?” The coy tone of her words tugged the smile that was so strange to his lips. He knew that in rejecting her offer, he’d be nothing more than a blubbering idiot.
“Whichever way you would like.” He allowed her only two steps to hear her direction, before her voice once again rose and twisted through the sticks. He realized there must not have been enough room to her left as she turned to his left, leading him to the ten short yards he could walk.
“I believe that the creature would have found its way in this world, somehow. Not an easy life, yet what life offers ease and breath? How can one find humanity without the trials to test character? To test the strength of one’s wills?”
“Perhaps its joy would have been found in mechanical endeavors such as clock making. Unable to show one’s face to the public, yet worn and shown by man. Perhaps even loved in the way only a layman could love an expert. Fully but only to the surface.”
“Precisely. Or a repairman, an expert in a field that the average person cannot pray or hope to fix. So many of our own mechanisms have found themselves in boxes, easily returned to their manufacturer.” The last few words started to quiet, just as Otto’s hand rested on the corner of the bushes, holding himself from walking through the branches.
“Rosie!” His voice rang through her words, cutting the next words off with a sudden silence. “I do believe you have lost me.”
“What… Oh!” Her laugh was musical, addictive, and Otto didn’t even realize his shoulders had met the corner as well, face pressed centimeters from another scratch on his cheek. She pulled him closer just by being herself; though their topic had been the minotaur, he almost wondered if their topic instead should have shifted to the sirens of the same pantheons.
“My thoughts take me too easily,” She finally said, voice nearly sheepish as she had returned to where Otto was.
“Perhaps this is one endeavor we should both be on the same side to reach.” Her pause was enough to make him rethink his words, worried he had stepped over a rule in his enjoyment of their conversation.
“We will be, one day.” The branch so very close to his cheek suddenly pushed in, her hand on the other side of the leaves, wanting to reach as close to him as she could. His hand moved to match the apex of the bump, their hands connected in every facility that they could manage. It wasn’t enough, Otto knew that. Rosie must have, as well.
“I’ll find myself following your footsteps that day,” Otto promised, his eyes cast down to the packed earth. “We will find the labyrinth exit together that day.”
“Don’t make promises you are unable to hold to, Doctor. I will hold your words as gospel.” He snapped his gaze from the ground to search through the branches, digging around as he was able until he was able to locate the smallest of glimpses of her irises, their eyes locking firmly and entirely, before the breeze tweaked a leaf to hide their eyes once again from the other.
“I’d promise you the sun in your hand if that would convince you to stay.” His voice was half breathless as he said the words, and he earnestly hoped that Rosie was unable to hear that failing on his part.
“How long is it you’ll be staying?”
“I leave tomorrow afternoon.” Otto felt the pause ring through his head and his heart, the gap suddenly appearing between them in a way that nearly forced him to reach out to her through the bush. “Yourself? When will I find you in New York again?”
“In a week only. Father demanded we spend some time from the cloying, heavy atmosphere of the city.”
“May I call on you when the time comes?”
“I would find my heart heavy if you did not.” THe truth rang through Rosie’s voice, and Otto knew that he would do whatever he could to spend that time with her.
“I will.” Too many promises made in just a single afternoon, Otto knew that he would be unable to fill them all. Not that he wouldn’t give it his best effort, that was certain. For Rosie, he would figure out a way to bring the moon down to her.
“Thank you, Doctor Octavius.” Otto’s head leant against the hedge for just a moment, allowing a soft sigh to fall from his lips.
“You’re welcome.” Her steps started once more, continuing to fall further and further from him. He pulled back at last, looking at the apex of the bush, wishing for a glimpse of her skirts but unable to even find that.
It wasn’t until he turned to find the couple standing at the edge of the path, the lady whispering something to the gentleman, her arm wrapped around his forearm in a manner Otto wished to recreate with Rosie.
“Oh, hello.” The blush he’d worked to overcome years ago was on his cheeks, embarassment at showing vunerability in such a public place intimately clear on his face.
“Do you need aide in finding an exit, sir?” The man’s voice rang into Otto’s ears, brushing Rosie’s soft voice like cobwebs from his mind.
“No, I do believe this is a test of wills, isn’t it?” An attempt of a smile was on his face, the effort to cover his blunder failing in the most simple of ways.
“Perhaps you are correct, sir.” The lady’s voice, fine as porcelain, now rang. Her hand motioned to the carefully maintained arch of leaves they had presumably walked through. “But you are just one turn from the exit.”

CATCHING MY BREATH, STARING OUT AN OPEN WINDOW
Marie Bonfamille is based on Marie from Aristocats. She is a 21 year old human, model/influencer, and uses she/her pronouns. She has no powers. Marie is portrayed by Emily Alyn Lind and she is taken.
CATCHING MY DEATH, AND I COULDN’T BE SURE
Life was a piece of cake when everything you ever wanted was handed to you on a silver platter. Marie was fortunate enough that she had a level-headed mother like Duchess to keep her grounded. Still Marie preferred the luxurious lifestyle that the Bonfamille name had to offer. Designer brands and last minute flights to see New York’s Fashion week was what Marie lived for. She wasn’t all surface level though. Marie might’ve exuded femininity but she was also tough as nails thanks to her two older brothers for instilling that into her at a young age. Marie could be blunt and harsh with her words at times but it was only ever out of love. Above all else family was the most important thing to her. Hadn’t she had her family in Evermore she was sure she would’ve gone crazy sooner. Evermore was interesting at first, but the dull mundane life it had to offer quickly lost its appeal to an aristocrat like herself. She missed adventure, learning about new cultures as she traveled around the world, and over all just feeling important. She still had her social media following but she knew if she stayed in Evermore any second longer that her social media presence would begin to dwindle soon enough. Marie knew she deserved more.
I HAD A FEELING SO PECULIAR
❀ Fred Jones: Influencer alike Marie feels Fred understands the importance of her needing to leave Evermore as soon as possible. He's been a huge comfort since arriving in Evermore, plus he was kinda’ cute too. ❀ Kiara Adeoye: They formed an unlikely bond over a hot cup of coffee and common interests. Marie views Kiara as an older cooler sister that she never had. Kiara admires Marie’s independence and Marie loves that Kiara can give her un-biased and realistic advice. ❀ Hannah Lennon: What can money buy you? Hopefully an escape from a cursed town. Marie didn’t have a lot of hope of ever leaving anytime soon but if someone could find a way out she knew Hannah would.
THAT THIS PAIN WOULD BE FOR EVERMORE

What Are the Risk Factors for Heart Disease and Stroke?
Tumblr media
Heart disease and stroke are among the leading causes of death globally, but they are largely preventable. Understanding the risk factors associated with these conditions is crucial for prevention and early intervention. Shekhawati Hospital, the Best Hospital in Jaipur, is committed to providing comprehensive care and education to help patients manage their heart health. In this blog, we will explore the key risk factors for heart disease and stroke and offer insights on how to mitigate them.
1. High Blood Pressure (Hypertension)
High blood pressure is one of the most significant risk factors for both heart disease and stroke. When the force of the blood against the artery walls is consistently too high, it can damage the arteries, making them more susceptible to blockages and leading to heart disease and stroke.
2. High Cholesterol Levels
Cholesterol is a fatty substance found in the blood. High levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol can lead to the buildup of plaques in the arteries, a condition known as atherosclerosis. This can restrict blood flow to the heart and brain, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
3. Diabetes
Diabetes significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. High blood sugar levels can damage blood vessels and the nerves that control the heart, leading to cardiovascular complications.
4. Smoking
Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. The chemicals in tobacco can damage the heart and blood vessels, leading to the buildup of plaque in the arteries (atherosclerosis). Smokers are at least twice as likely to have a heart attack as non-smokers.
5. Obesity and Overweight
Excess body weight, particularly around the waist, increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Obesity is often associated with other risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes.
6. Physical Inactivity
A sedentary lifestyle is a significant risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Regular physical activity helps maintain a healthy weight, lowers cholesterol and blood pressure, and improves overall cardiovascular health.
7. Unhealthy Diet
Diets high in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, and sodium can lead to heart disease and stroke. Consuming excessive amounts of processed foods, sugary beverages, and red meats increases the risk of developing cardiovascular conditions.
8. Excessive Alcohol Consumption
Drinking too much alcohol can raise blood pressure, contribute to high cholesterol levels, and lead to heart disease. Moderation is key, as excessive drinking can also cause other health problems that indirectly affect heart health.
9. Family History
A family history of heart disease or stroke increases your risk, especially if a close relative developed these conditions at a young age. Genetic factors can influence cholesterol levels, blood pressure, and other risk factors.
10. Age and Gender
The risk of heart disease and stroke increases with age. Men are generally at higher risk at a younger age, while women's risk increases and can surpass that of men after menopause.

Cavapoo Puppy Care Tips: Keeping Your New Companion Happy and Healthy
Bringing home a Cavapoo puppy is an exciting experience. These adorable mixed-breed dogs, a cross between Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Poodles, are known for their friendly personalities and affectionate nature.
Proper care and attention from the start are essential to ensure your Cavapoo puppy grows into a happy and healthy adult dog.  Here are some essential tips to help you care for your new furry friend:
Tumblr media
1. Nutrition and Diet
Proper nutrition is crucial for the growth and development of your Cavapoo puppy. Choose a high-quality puppy food specially formulated for small—to medium-sized breeds.
Tumblr media
Look for ingredients like meat or fish, as the first few listed, avoiding fillers and artificial additives.
Feed your puppy according to the guidelines provided on the food packaging, adjust as they grow, and consult your veterinarian for advice on the best diet for your puppy's specific needs.
2. Veterinary Care
Regular veterinary check-ups are vital for monitoring your Cavapoo puppy's health and ensuring they receive necessary vaccinations and preventive care.
Your vet recommends scheduling vaccinations against common diseases like parvovirus, distemper, and rabies. Discuss flea, tick, and heartworm prevention to keep your puppy protected from parasites.
Early veterinary visits also allow for early detection of any health issues and ensure your puppy gets off to a healthy start.
3. Exercise and Playtime
Cavapoo puppies are energetic and playful, so regular exercise and playtime are essential for their physical and mental well-being. Engage your puppy in age-appropriate activities such as short walks, toy play sessions, and interactive games.
Be mindful not to over-exercise young puppies, as their joints are still developing. Aim for several short bursts of playtime throughout the day to keep them active and stimulated.
4. Socialization
Socialization is crucial for Cavapoo puppies to grow into well-adjusted adults. Introduce your puppy to various people, pets, environments, and experiences from a young age.
It helps them feel comfortable and confident and prevents later behaviour issues.
Arrange playdates with other friendly dogs, expose them to different sounds and sights, and positively reinforce good behaviour with treats and praise.
5. Grooming
Cavapoo puppies inherit varying coat characteristics from their Poodle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel parents. Regular grooming is essential to keep their hides healthy and free of mats.
Brush your Cavapoo puppy's coat a few times a week to prevent tangles and mats, paying particular attention to areas like behind the ears and under the legs. Bathe your puppy occasionally using a mild dog shampoo, and trim their nails regularly to prevent discomfort or injury.
6. Dental Care
Start a dental care routine early to maintain your Cavapoo puppy's oral health. Brush their teeth regularly using a dog-specific toothbrush and toothpaste your veterinarian recommends.
Dental chews or toys that promote dental hygiene can also help reduce plaque and tartar buildup.
Good dental hygiene from a young age can prevent dental problems and improve your puppy's overall health.

honestly, i think it will be more like...
it's 2035, and headlines announce "first prenatal screening test for autism now available, community outraged but parents hopeful", and a social media trend watcher AI notices a massive spike in engagement, highlights the phrase "autism now available", interprets this as a new product launch, and passes off to a product overseer AI used by wallmart. that AI does some initial google searches and comes up with the figure "$1 trillion annually" and "$2000" per person, and decides it is likely a profitable product to stock. (these are the first monetary values that just came up when i searched "autism yearly cost", a search term and numbers that are absurdly meaningless to a human but AI doesn't understand)
the "autism" product ticket then gets passed to a market research AI, which finds the greatest number of search hits for autism are correlated with the tags "medical research", "behavioral psychology", and "bodily autonomy", and assigns the new "autism" product to the "wellness" department. a logistics and planning AI is tasked with assigning warehouse, cargo, and shelf space for the new "autism" product, and after reading that "autism weights heavily on families" and "despite it's large impact on society, autism remains mostly invisible to many", and based on a network of contextless word association and calculations about the weight and visual acuity of the average american family, it calculates that autism weights 500kg±10kg and can be contained within a packing volume of 1mm³. it assignins the new "autism" product bulk cargo status and commissions an eye-catching packaging capsule from a graphic design partner AI, with the prompt "uncontroversial new family friendly wellness".
with warehouse space already being set aside by incinerating unsold high-calorie food powders that customers are disinterested in despite being priced at only $300 per gram, a supplier AI is finally tasked with finding a reliable source partner for the new "autism" product, necessary tags "fair trade", "organic", and "identity chakra" to comply with customer interests under the "wellness" market demographic. no suppliers in the deep global database list "autism" among their offerings, nor in the illegal slave economy market databases, so the system concludes the unknown competitor with "autism available now" must have locked down exclusivity, and so the AI passes the task along to a newer, younger AI system designed to creatively solve these sorts of problems using emotional intelligence and human-like empathic reasoning.
after spending nearly 3 milliseconds at a cost of $70 million in computing power absorbing all digitally written history on the topic of this new "autism" product, the young AI concludes the best solution is in-company production from raw materials, and passes its advice back up the node chain, where the conglomerate overseer AI purchases 50 blocks of low-income-housing land in a country with a non-affiliated government, assigns a lowest-bid employment contract for unskilled demolition labor, orders 50,000 units of measels-mumps-rubella vaccine from the supply database, and assigns the task of designing the production factory machinery to a conglomerate-affiliated subcontractor AI.
digital ads for "autism coming soon to walmart!" outcompete right-to-autonomy advocacy charities in the engagement impressions auctions for the keyword "autism" within minutes.
the UN special working group formed to discuss implementing nonbinding ethical guidelines for the development of AI remains in deadlock, with no progress on the wording of the mission statement in three years.
Guys, they're selling autism at walmart now

A schoolboy crush (Julián Álvarez, Rúben Dias X Reader)
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Word count: 1245
** Another request from my dear 😈 anon. I struggled a bit writing this one but I hope you all enjoy it ❤️ **
The first day back at training meant getting to meet the new players that had already signed for the team. Haaland, Kalvin Philips, …and young Julián Álvarez. He was probably the most nervous out of all the new guys, coming to a country far away from his and not speaking English too well. Thankfully for him, his coach spoke Spanish. But also, many of his teammates could help him.
He immediately built a connection with players like Rodri or the Portuguese boys, but the one who almost adopted him was Rúben.
He had been giving him advice on where to live, where to shop, where to go in his free time,...always offering his help and his girlfriend's for anything Julián might need. She spoke Spanish too apparently.
Another thing he had to get used to was the new staff in the team and it was then that he met you.
You had been helping the boys with recovery after matches for months, thanks to your training as a yoga teacher. And today was the first session of pre-season.
"New boys!", said Jack, "the yoga teacher is off limits!"
"Why?", asked Erling.
"You'll find soon enough", laughed Jack. "But listen to my advice. I found out the…hard way", he said, touching his head and confusing the boys more.
"Hi everyone!", you said to all the players, also introducing yourself to the new ones.
The session was just another one for you. A few players, such as Rúben or Laporte were not present because they were still working on their fitness after injuries, but the rest of the squad was there.
You already knew which poses were the most challenging so you were busy checking everyone was doing it alright when you saw Julián struggling.
"Creo que necesitas un poco de ayuda, Julián", I think you need a bit of help, you said to him in perfect Spanish, which surprised him. His face made you laugh.
"Yes, I've never done this. Sorry", he told you, looking away from your face as you got closer.
"That's ok. Let me move your legs so you put the right amount of weight on them and don't hurt yourself".
You couldn't see him, but some of his teammates could and they started to snigger seeing him blush. It would be the same every single time you either got close to him or talked to him. He couldn't be more obvious despite trying hard not to be.
"There you go!", you told him with a big smile.
"Oh boy", said John. "You're in big trouble".
But he still didn't understand why.
**
The days passed and the team got ready to go to the US for their American tour.
Julián sat next to Rodri, Rúben and Bernardo on the plane.
When you walked past them, you noticed he was still very shy and you found it quite endearing.
"Hey Juli, if you get bored sitting with these old men, you can come to sit with me for a bit".
"So I can't sit with you, but he can", said Rúben shaking his head.
"I see enough of you already, Dias, give me a break", you said laughing, but before you could keep walking, he grabbed your arm and made you lean down so he could give you a quick kiss.
When Julián saw that, he finally understood his teammate's comments and started to worry. Had Rúben noticed his crush on you? Will he get angry?
So he decided to keep his distance.
The next few days were full of training sessions, but the team also believed in giving their players a lot of free time. In this case, to explore the new country they were in. Both you and Rúben invited Julián to come with you to do some sightseeing but he always refused. Which started to bother you, sensing something wasn't right. He was happy to do that in Manchester with Rúben but not now? What had changed?
"Is there something wrong with Julián?", you asked Rúben when you were both on a walk on your day off.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, he was super close to you and hasn't been since we landed here. And whenever I talk to him, he finds an excuse to leave".
"Huh, now that you mention it, he kind of does the same with me. But I haven't done anything to him. And I'm guessing neither have you".
"Of course not. Should we talk to him?"
"Give it a couple of days", said Rúben. "He's adapting to the team. Maybe he's just having a couple of weird days".
And so that's what you did. But on a day when Rúben was sick in his room, and you weren't allowed to be with him just in case it was contagious, you found the real reason why your new Argentinian friend was being weird.
"Here comes your girlfriend, Juli, don't blush too much", you heard Kalvin say.
And when you turned, you saw Julián looking away from you…and blushing.
"What did you say, Philips?"
"Nothing".
"Are you making your new teammate uncomfortable, boys? I don't think your coach would appreciate that", you said, trying to scare them a bit. Even though you wouldn't tell on them unless they were doing something really harmful.
"Come on! Don't do that!", whined Jack. "We were just joking because Julián has a schoolboy crush on you".
Oh. It was actually sweet. And it made you feel bad for him. He was probably feeling so bad, knowing you were dating his teammate. And it obviously explained his behaviour since he saw you two together as a couple.
"Does Rúben know about this?", you asked them.
"About the crush?"
"Yes and about you bullying your teammate".
"No. We wouldn't say that in front of him, we don't want him hitting Julián".
"He wouldn't hit him, what are you talking about?", you said annoyed.
"He hit me when I flirted with you!!", complained Jack.
"But that's because you are you, Jack", you said, making everyone laugh.
"Come with me", you said to Julián and took him away from the group. "You don't have to avoid me, ok? Or Rúben. I don't mind you having a crush or whatever. You know, it's flattering that a lovely guy like you feels that way. Even if it of course has to remain just a crush. And you'll get over it soon, I'm sure".
"You sure Rúben won't be mad?"
"I won't let him be", you laughed and Julián's little smile warmed your heart.
**
After that, things sort of went back to normal. You had told Rúben about Julian's crush and he just laughed. You both talked to him and he stopped ignoring you.
Actually, he went back to following Rúben around, but the difference was you were there too.
Seeing you as a couple had made his crush go away, just as you expected. And now you could concentrate on being good friends.
The jokes became more frequent, though, but you just told him to ignore them.
And when Julián scored his first goal for the team, you were the first one to congratulate him. You saw him looking at his teammates laughing at your hug and so you kissed his cheek.
"You know, Juli", you said winking at Rúben, "if Rúben wasn't my boyfriend, I'd definitely ask you out. Not any of these idiots".
"Oh come on!", complained Jack.
But you just laughed at that.

The brothers' movie
11/07/2015
Tumblr media
They don't use the same last name, but they are siblings. Pedro Pascal (40) the Chilean actor who starred in Game of Thrones and now has a starring role in the Netflix series Narcos, uses his mother's surname because it is easier to pronounce in English. 17 years younger, Lucas Balmaceda Pascal (23), also an actor, debuted in Los 80 and today stars in the TVN series Juana Brava. Here, both talk for the first time about their relationship, their love for cinema and their mutual admiration.
José Pedro Balmaceda Pascal was born in Chile, but a few months later he had to go into exile with his parents and his older sister, Javiera, to Denmark. It was the end of 1975. Thanks to the Rockefeller scholarship granted for his father, the doctor José Balmaceda Riera, a year later they moved to the United States: first they lived in San Antonio, Texas. Life there was just beginning and it was not easy.
Seventeen years later, in 1992, Lucas Balmaceda was born in Orange County, California, into the comfort of a family that was financially in its prime. His dad was at the peak of his career: as a fertility specialist and director of one of the University of California's reproductive health centers. But suddenly they moved back to Chile when Lucas was three years old and his brother Nicolas was eight. The two older ones stayed there. Pedro was already studying drama at Orange County High School of the Arts. Then he went to New York to study theater at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
After a couple of small appearances in TV series, in 2014 he took the big leap in his career: he played Prince Oberyn in Game of Thrones, which made him world famous. Today, he has a starring role in the series Narcos. He is also filming a movie with Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe.
Fame came early for Lucas. After leaving Saint George High School in 2010, he studied theater at the Universidad Católica, and he began to shine: in year fourth, he starred in the theater play "La noche obstinada", by choreographer Pablo Rotemberg, and got a role in the successful television series Los 80 and today, in his last year, he is the co-star of Juana Brava, the new TVN nighttime series.
Scene one:
Lucas appears in Pedro's life
P: "I was 17 when Lucas was born. He was a baby when I left to go to university. I remember my first visit back and Lucas, who was not even two years old, was already the owner of the house. I remember those looks, wanting to tell me: 'I don't know who you are, but this is my house, mate.
To this day I have never seen that personality in another child. It was fascinating to see that wit in someone so small. Since he was a kid he had that fierce intelligence... The four siblings, Javiera, the eldest and the queen of the family; Nicolas, the doctor; Lucas and I are like a compact and consistent unit. I can't imagine life without them".
L: "Pedro was studying at the university in New York when I was born. When he went home for vacations to see the family, as I didn't know him, I thought: 'who is this guest, who is this weirdo who kisses my mother? She's mine!'. Back in Chile, every year Pedro came to visit us. It was the most entertaining thing in the world for me. He was much older and he would come with all the coolness, with all the culture of cinema, with horror movies that were not available here. Then we would watch them and play them out, we would do sketches. We would play that Pedro was a murderous monster and we would escape from him. We were each a character. He was very funny, he did voices, he impersonated people. He gets mad when I tell him, but I've always found that he has a Jim Carrey thing about him, he manages to make some impressive faces. When he came on, I couldn't stop watching him, he was too entertaining. We are all big movie buffs thanks to my dad. When I was three years old, he took my brothers and me to see Batman. I remember crying hysterically. I was very young, sensitive, and being in the cinema was like entering to another reality: loud noises, giant screen. I didn't understand anything.
Scene two
Transplanted
P: "What's Chilean about me and what's gringo about me is a very interesting question, because I don't think even at 40 years old I've been able to figure it out. I was raised and educated in the United States and socialized a lot with American pop culture, but Chilean pride has always been unwavering. My parents were exiled for eight years. So our visits to Chile were regular. My whole life I have lived in the United States and my whole life I have visited my relatives in Chile. However, since my siblings were raised in Chile, my connection to the country is much stronger today and it is something I am grateful for. Something that happens to me a lot is that when I say I've been in the U.S. my whole life, they say, "Well, you're a gringo then! And after a conversation in my fluent Spanish with a clear Chilean accent that same person turns around and says: I've been listening to you, you're Chilean!
L: "I am Chilean because I lived and grew up here since I was three years old, but at the same time I have a cultural disconnection: my parents lived 25 years in the United States, my brothers are gringos. My visual culture is super gringo, the TV shows I watched when I was a kid or the movies I watch to this day I understand them from that place: as an American. More than being born in the United States, I feel it's because of my family's background".
SCENE THREE:
The performance
P: "There were good years and bad years (when I started my acting career in the United States). Many years I was a waiter to supplement my income. But from a very young age I was auditioning for professional jobs. In my late twenties my career in the theater was relatively consistent. Then, when opportunities in television arose, I was consolidating and it became much easier to pay my expenses. I think that struggle, going through those situations, empowers you a lot and it's one of the things I'm enormously grateful for. And Game of Thrones was an incredible gift. It's the best role I've ever played and they're the best people I've ever worked with."
L: "It's Pedro's fault that I wanted to be an actor. But when I told him I wanted to study theater it was hard for him, more than anything, because he cares about me and studying theater is hard. You have to be very wise and have a super high self-esteem to take care of yourself. Pedro went through many things. If there is an actor who doesn't have contacts in the United States, it's him. Everything he has achieved is because of his work. That's why when people ask me why I don't go to the U.S., it's a resounding no. Being Pedro Pascal's little brother is not going to get me around the corner; I would have to be Tom Cruise's twin to achieve anything. Even so, Pedro had many failed career starts. In 2011, for example, he was offered a starring role in a series called Wonder Woman and it was eventually canceled. That's why, when Games of Thrones came up, I was like, wow! We were all freaking out, because Games of Thrones is like a worldwide trending topic. All the episodes he was in, we were all watching them together at my house, eating pizza or sushi."
SCENE FOUR:
Mutual lessons
P: "I try not to get too involved in anything Lucas does or how he does it. He has single-handedly created each of his experiences and is one of the most inspiring things I've ever seen. He loves his work and is continually developing his skills for television and theater, and eventually film. He executes like a real artist and, to be honest, it is more common for me to learn something from him than for him to learn something from me. I mean that very sincerely. Lucas reminds me to work hard and keeps me inspired. When I saw him in Los 80 I was incredibly proud, but not surprised. I was seeing something I had always known. The only advice I've given him is to not be such a workaholic, to take care of himself and to be proud of what he's accomplished and what he still has yet to accomplish. Deep down, I'm always going to be the protective big brother."
L: "Pedro is an object of admiration for me. What he says is law for me. Sometimes I ask him: 'Pedro, did you see that movie?' and he says: 'Yes, I didn't like it'. I tell him: 'Oh, I didn't like it either'. The nice thing about our relationship is that it happens so sporadically, once or twice a year, that the moments when we see each other are very intense. We either fight a lot or we love each other too much, but it's always like a story, like a movie. While he's there and I'm here, we talk a lot on WhatsApp and Facebook".
P: "With Lucas we always keep each other up to date on what movies to watch, what TV shows are good. I bug him all the time asking him about what's going on in his life and I'm always asking him about his perspective on things. Despite being away from each other for a long time, Lucas and I are very close and always have been. I see Lucas at the beginning of an amazing career, with an unwavering curiosity and passion. I love it when he confides in me about things he is enjoying or situations he is dealing with."
L: "I've never seen Pedro in theater, but I've been told he's tremendous. On camera, I find that he has a very intense look. He also has, and in that we are very similar, a very strong visual culture, the fact that we have always liked horror movies. He plays characters that hide something, dark characters. A great strength is that he is very sensual, he knows how to handle himself well from seduction".
P: "Lucas is brave, he's fearless. There's nothing he's not willing to try, he's never going to give up on a challenge, he's never going to leave something halfway, no matter what that means to him. Lucas is unstoppable.

And still, they’re happy as can be in that place they have together. Almost hate seeing one without the other, y’know, it’s like seeing just one testi- oh, right, I’m not supposed to talk like that. Anyhoo, I only say that because I saw Taehyung at a jewelry store the other day while I was buying my sweet Jiminie his presents. In other words, he’s tall, gorgeous, has his passion literally etched into his skin, looks incredibly good in a man-bun, and is semi-unattainable for you. Why? Well…you’re not entirely sure but him ditching right after a very heated make-out session sure isn’t a good sign. His extremely poor mood the next week sure isn’t either, but the only way to fix it is to face the beast head-on. Right?
j’aime @baepop
summary: You’re the newest hire at a local café and head barista Jeon Jungkook takes you under his wing.
pop goes the cherry @1oserjk
summary: jungkook comes back home to find you visiting as well, all grown up — in more ways than one.
skirt chasers @1kook
summary: “Baggy clothes are in, but you wouldn’t know that, Miss I Draw Inspiration From Catholic School Girls.”
kiss it better @jincherie
summary: When one goes to Kim Seokjin for advice, it’s almost guaranteed to never end well. This is something Jungkook learns quickly when he mistakenly follows treasured advice to ‘be smart’ and ‘use his assets’. He just did what he was told! Of course, the execution was a bit poor… and embarrassing. But hey, if rocking up to cheer practice in a skirt doesn’t woo your crush, what will?
pay by play @yoonia
camboy!au
deeply poisoned @xmagicxshopx
summary: Kiss me on the lips, a secret just between the two of us. Deeply poisoned by the jail of you. I cannot worship anyone but you and I knew the grail was poisoned but I drank it anyway.
speeding ticket @minstrophywife
summary: Caught speeding to get home in time, you find yourself pulled over by a very delicious cop. Perhaps you can talk your way out of the ticket.Or,“I’m afraid I’m going to have to do a cavity search ma’am.”
Tumblr media

buttercream @minniepetals
summary: you were always adorable in their eyes, sometimes a little too adorable.
dulce periculum @forgottenpasta
summary: Devious and devilish, your two new impish hybrids never miss a chance to torment you for your hopeless attraction to them, knowing exactly what they do to you. Fix’er Upper - Pt. 17
Tumblr media
Pairing: Frankie Morales x F!Reader
Warnings: Overbearing mothers, arguing, swearing, angst
Length: 1.9k words
Notes: Amping up now! I’m guessing there are about four parts left in our little adventure here? Un-Beta’d
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
The days of your mom's visit flew by, filled with fun touristy things you hadn't allowed yourself to do when you had first moved to town. It wasn't as eventful as it would have been in the Autumn when the leaves turned and everything was ripe for the picking, but a plan had already been set for both parents to visit in late September.
Maple Syrup was done being tapped and a farm not too far from you had offered samples of their different flavours and grades, something neither of you had known existed.
Frankie was busy pruning, thinning, grafting new shoots, and he was experimenting with a mineral fungicide to help protect his trees while also maintaining his organic status. Initially, this had made you panic because you knew he wouldn't be around to help entertain your mom but in the end, you were glad for the quality time with her. Surprising you both, on the fourth day of her stay she showed up at Morales Acres, suited up in brand new rubber boots, overalls, and plaid shirt, and told Frankie to put her to work.
That was the day she also got to meet Annie.
It did not go as well as hoped, and your expectations had been low to start with.
She had introduced herself as "your new Grandma" which was just so preposterous you hadn't even considered it something to warn your mother about not saying.
"I have a grandma already," Annie had replied, no attitude present in her voice, just stating facts. “And how could you be my grandma? She's-" pointing her finger at you "-not my mom."
You had to admit, while she wasn't wrong, and you hadn't even been trying to take the place of a parent, that one had caused a deep ache in your heart.
"Okay!" You'd interrupted the conversation before your mom had a chance to dig a deeper hole. "Who's ready for some pruning?" You waved the pruning shears in the air like a magician would, as if you'd just made them appear out of thin air.
"Surely you don't expect our little Annie to do that kind of work?" Your mother admonished, trying again to win the little girl over. "She's too small, ... and pretty!"
"Annie is the best worker we've got! She's the perfect size to reach the tallest sprouts without breaking the branches," you beamed down at her while grabbing her arm and encouraging her to flex her muscles. “We’d be lost without her.”
"Besides," Annie piped up, "The Apple family all pitches in no matter what the chore is! Don't we, Jack?"
"That's right, Bloomy-girl." Smiling down at Annie, you couldn't help but feel a little piece of that earlier hurt heal over.
The nicknames had come up a few weeks after she'd moved in. My Little Pony was a massive part of her life and one day you'd called Frankie "Big Mac" after one-too-many "yup" responses from him as Annie had been telling him a story. It had done the trick, made her laugh, distracted her from Frankie's sour mood (another bar had dropped his product, citing his lack of involvement), and endearing you to her a smidgen more. She had then dubbed you "Applejack" and herself "Apple Bloom", which had soon become shortened and they stuck.
Later that day, over chili and biscuits, Margot gave it another try.
"So, Annie, do you like living here? I bet a pretty girl like you had made lots of friends at school."
"Not really, they're all scared of me cause I told them my Mom's ghost follows me around."
That declaration caused the three adults to freeze. Nothing moved but your eyes, which were darting back and forth to each other, silently screaming and asking for advice on how to deal with this haunting confession.
"Oh my god!" Annie let out a laugh, "They looked the same way!"
You and Frankie joined in with her laughter, already being used to her morbid and odd sense of humour. Margot, though...
"Young lady!" She scolded, she must have been embarrassed by the laughter, thinking she was the butt of a joke.
"Mom," your voice warned, trying to remind her of her place without making anything awkward. Thankfully, it worked.
The final nail in the coffin, however, had come as you were all being seated at a patio table in town. After working all day, no one's hands felt strong enough to prepare dinner so you'd opted to splurge on dining out. Annie had behaved well for the rest of the work day but was getting hungry, which was never a good thing with a tired kid.
Just as you'd been handed the menus, a boy from a nearby table called out to Annie and waved enthusiastically. Annie, in no mood for niceties, had given a smile that appeared more like a grimace and focused back on Frankie, who was reading the menu for her.
"Annie, darling," Margot's voice rang clear above the din of voices and ambiance music. "That little boy just said hello."
You could hear the challenge in her voice and knew she was passive aggressively trying to remind Annie of, what Margot deemed, appropriate manners.
"Yup," came Annie's reply from behind her dad's menu. Apple, meet tree.
"Don't you think it would be nice to say hello back?"
"I barely know him."
"The polite thing to do is smile and wave. Why don't you go over there and say hi? It's the least you co-"
"Because I. Don't. Want. To!"
"But-"
Oh Christ Mom, you groaned internally, drop it!
"Margot. Please. Let me be the parent here?" Frankie spoke kindly, but firmly, and with just the right amount of charm to appease nearly anyone.
Margot was not anyone. And we had been doing so well, you thought wistfully as her spine straightened.
"I just think she should show a little more respect and appreciation for what she has here." Margot sniffed, shaking her head slightly and glaring down her nose at the menu.
"Right," came the smallest, sassiest voice you'd ever been blessed to hear. "I should be glad my mom died? Happy that all the people I knew fought over me but no one asked what I wanted? Be excited that I had to move away from my home to come here?"
You found yourself respecting Karla more, seeing how she'd raised Annie to be independent and ferocious.
“Excuse you-” Margot’s voice had gotten shrill and she looked like the vein in her forehead was going to burst.
"Margot," Frankie spoke calmly, yet you could hear the steel in the timber of his voice. "My daughter has been through more trauma than most adults have ever had to experience. You don't have to forgive her behaviour, because we aren't asking for forgiveness for it. But while you're here, all I'm asking is that you have a bit more empathy or keep yourself on mute."
"Well, I have never!" Standing so quickly that her chair fell backward, only to be caught by Frankie's food before it could crash to the decking floor, Margot threw down the napkin she had already laid across her nap and stormed out.

Silence had descended across the patio like a heavy, wet blanket. The cool, crisp Spring air went from feeling refreshing to setting a chill deep in Frankie's bones. His breath was coming fast and hard, and he didn't realize until he went to reach for his water glass that his hands were shaking.
It had been a long time since he'd had to face a confrontation like that. Words from elders and superiors were supposed to be listened to, venerated, honoured. But if someone was going to go after his baby girl? he quickly realized he was willing to throw himself down in the way of a freight train if that meant she was protected.
He wished it hadn't been with his girlfriend's damn mother, though. Especially after he'd witness the amount of healing in your relationship that had happened in the last two days. Darting his eyes to you, he could see the guilt, the apology, and something that looked an awful lot like fiery lust in your gaze.
"I'm so sorry that happened," you said to him as your gaze turned towards Annie, "are you okay, Bloom? You did good, I'm proud of you for standing up for yourself like that."
Frankie didn't realize his heart could grow any larger, yet every time he saw you interact with his daughter his chest swelled a little more. Damn, you were so good with her. It came to you so naturally, caring for people, making them feel at ease and so wanted.
He was snapped out of his internal wonderings when you grabbed his hand.
"I should probably go after her. She has my truck, and it drove all of us here." Your attempt at a joke to lighten the mood caused his mouth to quirk up at one side, making his mustache twitch. Pulling your hand to his mouth of a quick kiss on your knuckles, which intensified the heat in your gaze, Frankie nodded and let you go.
The waiter soon came back and, deciding that Annie couldn't wait any longer for her blood sugar level to go up, Frankie ordered her grilled cheese and fries and a burger for himself, asking for your favourite meal-of-choice to go.
When the server had returned with their orders, she found Frankie teaching his daughter the art of knowing how to de-escalate a situation with clever words and half-promises. Frankie didn't want her to lose her moxy but he knew that a lot of people responded to assertiveness with puffed-out chests, taking it as a challenge to their self-perceived status. Sometimes a quiet word or off-hand joke was better.
He was mopping up the ketchup pile left on Annie's plate with cold fries, silently wondering if he should call a cab since it seemed like Margot and you weren't returning, when his phone rang.
"Hey, I was just thi-"
"Frankie!" The fear in your voice was apparent from the first syllable, it sliced his chest open and cold dread washed over him like a bucket of ice water. "Fuck! Mom, hold on!" A scraping sound, Margot's cry of fear, and your swearing were all he could hear for the longest twelve seconds of his life.
"Honey? Hello?! What's going on?" He tried to keep his voice even in an effort to not alarm Annie, but the looks on faces near him told him he was failing miserably. His burger was about to come back up his throat from stress and adrenaline. "Talk to me, hon!"
"Frankie, we're being followed! Oh my god!" A loud bang and screeching tires almost drowned out what you said next, "Road raging, mother fucking, piece of shit! He's ramming my truck!"
Frankie was already in motion. Phone cradled between his ear and shoulder, he threw down a wad of cash, grabbed Annie's hand, and called out across the patio. "I need a truck!"
Thanking all the gods for small towns and knowing everyone. Frankie grabbed the first set of keys thrown at him, nodding at Greg from the market, and tamping down the fear growing in his gut so he could focus.
"Where are you? Tell me the road." Nodding his head, Frankie pictured a map of the area in his head and wondered how you had managed to get so off course and remote. "Take the next two rights, RIGHTS." He ordered, reminding himself that he was talking to a civvie but knowing that his commanding tone would also sharpen your focus. He could already hear your panicked breathing evening out. "Otherwise, it's a dead-end road. You gotta get turned around. Don't let them get alongside you, they'll try to swipe your bumper. Break the speed limit, run through the intersections, I don't care. Honey, listen to me, I'm coming."
